A lot of my clients ask about whether they should close their current accounts when not in use. The answer is quite simple, NO! Why would anyone who has established good credit on a account want to do something so foolish? My guess is that they are not well educated on credit and how their FICO score would change. That will only lower your score most of the time within reason. People are mislead or misinformed on this not so good idea. The reason is education and there is not enough out there to provide them with the knowledge. My web site goes into detail on how this works and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to call or e mail me at the contact page of the site. Also you can reactivate at the creditors decision an old account that was in good standing. Best of luck and keep those old accounts open, please. Thank you!
